An ongoing study by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) revealed that there are at least 21 new cases of miners who developed mesothelioma from their workplace, Fox 21 reported on February 17.

A total of 101 out of 69,000 iron miners employed during the 1930s and 1982 reportedly were identified to have mesothelioma cancer since the study was conducted prior to 2000. In earlier days, mining facilities often utilized commercial asbestos for insulation purposes and its removal is still ongoing. Minnesota Commissioner of Health’s Dr. Ed Ehlinger stated that they expect to see mesothelioma cases grow because individuals may notice signs of the cancer 4 or 5 decades after the time they were exposed to asbestos minerals.

Mesothelioma cancer caused by asbestos exposure is a fatal condition. If you believe you developed mesothelioma from your workplace after inhaling asbestos fibers, enlisting a lawyer could help you get financial assistance you need for medications.
